Kirklees Town Profiles
Andy Shackleton - January 2011
andy.shackleton@kirklees.gov.uk
Other Areas
Population, road traffic casualties, crime, council tax benefit, major employers, land use, welfare benefits and average house prices by 'Town'.
Local towns include Batley, Dewsbury and Huddersfield (former pre-1974 local authority areas - Huddersfield County Borough, Dewsbury County Borough
and Batley Municipal Borough). There are also eight Urban Districts. Two Civil Parishes share the same boundaries as electoral wards
(Denby Dale ward profile and
Mirfield ward profile).
Note: Mirfield Urban District has a different boundary to Mirfield Civil Parish (Mirfield Town Council), select Mirfield ward above for Civil Parish figures.
Also there have recently been changes to the boundaries of Meltham, Kirkburton and Holme Valley Civil Parishes which means that at present profiles for these
areas are no longer available, as they used to share the same boundaries as the former Kirkburton, Meltham and Holmfirth Urban Districts. However, the changes
to the Kirkburton and Holme Valley Civil Parishes are minor and the relevant Urban District profiles could be used for these areas. Changes to the Meltham
Civil Parish boundary are slightly more substantial with a transfer of nearly 100 dwellings out of the Parish (less than 3% of total dwellings).
Denby Dale Civil Parish shares the same boundary as the former Denby Dale Urban District.
