Settlements
Settlements are areas that do not have official or legal boundaries but are based on
people's perceptions about where an area begins and ends. There are 126 settlement
areas in Kirklees (split into 10 areas on the main below). Please note: These areas
have been identified by the Council's Planning Service using local knowledge and
perception of settlement. No statutory or official boundaries exist for drawing
up Settlement areas.
For each Settlement there is also a 2001 Census profile which can be accessed using the links shown on
this page under the heading 'See also'.
Population, crime, council tax benefit and other information for each area is presented as a pdf document.
