Census 2001 Profile by Settlement

Key Statistics by Settlement

2001 Census Profiles and Key Statistics for Kirklees Settlements (126 Settlements cover Kirklees), also Key Statistics for West Yorkshire Districts, West Yorkshire and England and Wales

Please note: The Settlement areas have been identified by the Council's Planning Service using local knowledge and perception of settlement. No statutory or official boundaries exist for drawing up Settlement areas.

Key Statistics are Census 2001 tables available at output area level and above. Output areas are the smallest areas for which data is available (1,287 areas cover the whole Kirklees area).

Documents are Excel Spreadsheets. You require Microsoft Excel to view the spreadsheets.

Please note: Small counts (small numbers) in all tables issued for England and Wales are adjusted by ONS to prevent output disclosure. This can create apparent anomalies in output produced for smaller Settlements. For example, Table KS22, Lone parent households with dependent children (see below), shows a total of two male lone parent households for Thurstonland, Stocksmoor & Thunderbridge, of which five are in part-time work. Clearly it is impossible to have more male lone parent households in part-time work than the total number of male lone parent households. Unfortunately the way ONS adjusts small counts means that tables are no longer internally consistent; small counts are adjusted without a requirement to make tables add up correctly. Care should be taken in interpreting results where small counts are shown, and at times it may be necessary to combine adjoining Settlements to overcome uncertainty.
