Getting Fit for 2012

Getting Fit for 2012 is an all embracing programme of work focussing on sport, health, well being and achievement.

Over the next six years Getting Fit for 2012 will be organising sporting activities, competitions and events in Kirklees with the aim of getting everyone fit for the run up to the 2012 London olympics.

The programme will mean the creation of new sports facilities and development of existing ones providing the opportunities and meet the varying needs of all Kirklees residents with:

  • opportunities for all young people to get involved in sport and active leisure
  • inspiration for all young people to get involved in sport and active leisure
  • facilities for everyone to enjoy sport and active leisure
  • opportunities and clear pathways all along the way to the pinnacles of achievement.

The programme will be lead by Kirklees council working in association with local, regional and national partners.
