Applying for a copy of a birth, marriage, civil partnership or death certificate

- Complete an application form and send it to the Register Office nearest to where the event has happened.
- You will need to supply at least:
- the name of the person(s)
- the approximate date of the birth, death or marriage within one year
- the place where the event happened.
- Other details which will be helpful are:
- the name of parent(s) for birth records
- or name of husband/wife for death records.
How much a copy of a certificate costs
- £10.00 for standard birth, death, marriage and civil partnership certificates and short birth certificate.
- £20.00 for all certificates required on the same day.
- Please enclose a cheque or money order made payable to 'Kirklees Council' or 'Superintendent Registrar' with your application.
- You can also pay by a debit or credit card on the phone.
