The Accreditation Scheme is a voluntary code of practice developed in partnership with private residential landlords.
It encourages and promotes good standards which benefit landlords, tenants and the local community alike through reasonable property conditions, fair management and considerate neighbourly behaviour.
The scheme contains nationally and locally accepted standards of physical property condition, level of basic amenities and reasonable management practices. It also sets out responsibilities of the council, landlords and tenants.
You need to apply if you wish to be part of the scheme. There is a small annual fee to pay.
If you’re interested in joining the scheme, simply fill in the application form and return it to us:
We are currently working to improve the private tenant handbook and welcome any comments or suggestions you may have.
Consultation - deadline 10th February 2012
You can tell us if there is anything else that you would like to see included, something that you would like us to change or you have
comments or suggestions about the way we have provided the information.
We will consider all of the feedback we receive and use it to inform and shape our accreditation scheme into one that is of value to landlords in
Kirklees. The final version will be launched at our next Landlord Forum event in March 2012.
