Homeowners and tenants
If you are in danger of losing your home or being evicted - get advice first
before you do anything else!
Kirklees Council's Housing Options and Support Service can offer help and advice if you are at risk of becoming homeless
. If you are a homeowner you may be eligible for:
An interest free secured loan that provides short term help to your mortgage whilst you get back on your feet.
There are no regular payments to make but you have to repay the loan at the end of three years. Breathing Space allows you to stay in your home as an owner.
A scheme to help you if you are unable to pay your mortgage and need long term help.
If your lender is threatening repossession, or has already obtained a possession order against you, this scheme may be able to help you remain in your home.
This can include a housing association buying your home and you living there as a tenant.
Repossession Prevention Fund
An unsecured loan up to £3,000 to help avoid repossession.
Regular monthly payments are required over 5 years to repay the loan.
Including renting a property from a private landlord, housing association or the council,
we may be able to help you with an interest free loan to prevent homelessness.
Before you do anything you should get advice first.
The Housing Options Service can negotiate with your lender and can arrange help at court hearings. But don't wait until you are taken to court - contact us.
