Meet the park wardens
The Park Wardens' job is to make the public parks in Kirklees safe and welcoming for people of all ages to enjoy.
Mohammed Farooq (Faz) has been working in Crow Nest Park, Dewsbury, for the past three years. He has now been joined by Barry Daly who covers Wilton Park in Batley, The Raikes in Birstall and Millbridge Park in Liversdege; Diane Clifford, who is responsible for Ravensknowle Park, Beaumont Park, Norman Park and Fearnside Park, all Huddersfield; and Balvinder Sidhu who is based in Greenhead Park, Huddersfield. |
 |
Their wide-ranging role includes everything from removing graffiti, picking up litter, dealing with anti-social behaviour and maintaining equipment to working with groups who use the parks and liaising with agencies such as the Police, Drug Awareness Unit and Environmental Health.
Perhaps most importantly, they are trying to encourage a sense of respect and ownership of the parks. They are doing this by talking to people who use the parks, organising events and planning inter-park sports competitions.
You can also contact your local Park Warden for more information on what is happening in the parks:
