Ofsted Praises Dewsbury College
DC national leader for arts, administration and law!
DC has been singled out by Ofsted inspectors for its exceptional work training people of all ages from across the county for careers in business, administration and law.
Dewsbury College's business, administration and law teaching is 'inspiring' and graded outstanding, according to Ofsted.
These courses have high success rates, good progression routes to further study and employment, and they are tailored to suit individual needs, which includes groundbreaking work with hearing impaired learners.
Business, administration and law graduates from the college have gone on to study at universities UK-wide or started on their career ladders at a diverse range of workplaces, from local schools, hospitals and schools to HSBC, the Citizens' Advice Bureau and the Armed Forces.
The college was also praised for: serving a complex community and providing a curriculum that meets local needs; quality of support for learners, in particular hearing and visually impaired students; standards of students' work throughout the college; governors' involvement with the work of the college, particularly in improving quality; strong partnerships with schools, colleges and universities, employers, and community groups; quality of provision in other subject areas, including Health, Early Years and Care, Information and Communication Technology, Beauty Therapy, and Preparation for Life and Work.
Principal Wendy Pawson said: We are delighted with the report as it shows just how far we've travelled to improve our college in a short time: we are now a good college with some outstanding areas of provision. The report also compares very favourably with other colleges in the region. We work hard to appeal to and provide for an extremely diverse and challenging population. Dewsbury College is committed to aiding our students' and our community's development and progression.
