We offer a wide selection of audio-visual material and music books.
Films
You can borrow new films for 2 nights at £3.50. Most of our DVDs and videos can be hired for a week, with prices ranging between 50p and £2. Take advantage of our special offer – three 50p videos or DVDs for £1! Our film selection includes

Music on CD
Hire a CD from 85p a week. There are lots of different styles of music to choose from, so whatever sort of music you’re in to, you’re sure to find something you like. We can also help if you’re looking for a particular track. Each week we put a selection of CDs on our listening post for you to try. We have

Spoken word
Don’t have time to read? Have a long car journey ahead of you? Try our spoken word collection on cassette and CD. This includes:
- Classic and contemporary fiction
- Comedy
- Radio drama

- Shakespeare
- History
Spoken work is loaned out for 3 weeks at a time, just like books. There is a hire charge of £1.50 per item. Sets of 1 or 2 tapes are just 50p.
Music scores and books about music
Sheet music and music books are loaned out for 3 weeks. You may be able to renew items if you need to keep them longer. We have…

- Pop/rock. Standards, musicals and opera
- Chamber music and miniature scores
If you belong to a local choir, orchestra or music group, you can apply to borrow vocal, orchestral or chamber music sets. For sets borrowed outside Kirklees there may be a charge per part. If you can’t see what you are looking for, please ask a member of staff. We have an extensive back stock of classical music kept in storage and are happy to search for items for you. We can also help track down music for individual songs.
During busy periods and evenings, we may not be able to deal with your enquiry straight away. If this is the case, we will contact you as soon as possible when we have fully researched your enquiry.
