All libraries will have a world atlas and a street map for their local area; larger branch libraries will also have large scale Ordnance Survey maps for their local area. Huddersfield Reference Library has a much bigger map collection which can be summarised as follows…

A wide selection of UK town and village street maps.

Ordnance Survey Mapping

1:50000 Full Great Britain coverage.

1:10000 Full Kirklees coverage.

1:2500* Partial Kirklees coverage - mostly smaller towns, villages and rural areas

1:1250* Partial Kirklees coverage - mostly urban areas

* Please note that our holdings at these two scales complement each other, whereby if we do not have the area at one scale, we will have it at the other.

Specialist Mapping

We also have a collection of maps that cover specialist subject areas; for example geological survey, postcodes, coal and iron, inland waterways, land utilisation, administrative areas, and soil survey.
