Several of Kirklees libraries have an All Aboard collection in the children's library. The main collections are at Dewsbury Library and Huddersfield Library.
Dual language books for children are available in a number of languages.
The Home Service will deliver books to your home if you are physically unable to access library premises.
This service provides information in alternative formats for people who are blind, visually impaired or who are unable to read standard print because
of disability. The service is in the transcription office in Huddersfield Library.
A fortnightly talking newspaper that is available on either CD or tape, for blind and partially sighted people and others who find it difficult to read
print.
Every library in Kirklees has access to basic skills and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) material. The collections include books on
grammar, citizenship, life skills and study skills as well as dictionaries, grammar and spelling practice books, and books which encourage reading for
pleasure. In addition there are the following special facilities:
Information for basic skills tutorsTutors can arrange a tour of any Kirklees library. You may also be interested in some of the reader development and IT activities which can be arranged for basic skills groups.
Days, times and stopping points for all mobile library and information centre vans in the area.
