1966 is seen by many as the high point of English football. It was in this year that England triumphed at the World Cup with an outstanding 4 - 2 victory against West Germany. A key player in this victory for England was Ray Wilson.

He was spotted by scouts for Huddersfield Town whilst working on the railway in Huddersfield.

He played for England for the first time in 1960 against Scotland, and was selected to play in the 1962 World Cup in Chile. In addition to Huddersfield Town FC he also played for Everton, Oldham and Bradford.

He retired from football in 1971 and started a successful undertakers business in Huddersfield. He was awarded the MBE in 2000 for his services to football.
