Cricketer/Footballer, born Huddersfield, 1965

"If you wanted to play out, unless you wanted to play with dolls on your own, you played football"

Clare Taylor is remarkable in being both a talented footballer and cricketer.

Clare's first sporting passion was football which she played with the boys near her home in Crosland Moor. She was not discouraged by not being able to be on the school team and went on to play for Bronte Ladies FC in Bradford, Liverpool Ladies FC and Huddersfield Town.

As well as her footballing triumphs Clare is also one of the UK's most successful women cricketers. She has represented England 121 times and also played for Yorkshire and New Zealand's Otago State.

In 2000 she was awarded the MBE for her services to cricket and now lives in New Zealand where she works as a Cricket Development and Coaching Co-ordinator.
