Huddersfield Art Gallery interior

The Kirklees Collections consist of over 2,000 paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings and photographs. Smaller groups of these artworks are shown in changing displays at Huddersfield Art Gallery throughout the year.

Figure Study II by Francis Bacon

One of the most well known paintings from the Kirklees Collection, Figure Study II by Francis Bacon, originally presented to Batley Art Gallery by the Contemporary Art Society, is currently on tour. It was exhibited at Tate Britain as part of a major Francis Bacon exhibition (11th September 2008 to 4th January 2009). The tour continues to the Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid (3rd February to 19th April 2009) and the Metropolital Museum of Art, New York (18th May to 16th August 2009).
