What is browsealoud?

Reading large amounts of text on screen can be hard for some people. Browsealoud is a computer program that reads web pages aloud. As you move the cursor over words, they are spoken aloud.

How do I use it?

First Download and install Browsealoud.

This link takes you to a website where you will find full instructions to carry out the download. You may need help to do this.

After you have done this the browsealoud icon browsealoud iconwill be placed at the bottom right of your computer screen. This shows that you now have browsealoud installed and you can listen to these pagesand pages on some other web sites.

You can update browsealoud and change it to suit you.

To do this open Browsealoud by double clicking the icon browsealoud icon. You may need someone to help you to do this.

You can choose from a list of voices and change the way you hear the voices by changing the quality of sound and speed. The list will show all the voices you have on your computer. You can download some other voices if you want to.

To download other voices

These are some free downloads but you can search the Internet for other voices.

Regular Updates

More websites add their names to the Browsealoud enabled sites and Browsealoud will remind you to make regular updates. This is quick to do and will make sure that you will be able to read all those sites who have registered with Browsealoud.
