How you can contribute to INtouch
Digital TV and mobile
diane.sims@kirklees.gov.uk
You can use INtouch to share your thoughts, experiences and opinions with other local people. INtouch features many online forms which you can use to request a
service or to contact the council and other organisations straight from your TV. You can also use these forms to send in your own contributions to be published on
INtouch kirklees. These forms appear on the TV screen and you can type in your message or contribution using your TV keyboard or remote control.

What can an individual contribute?
In the 'My community' section (on the Main menu page of INtouch), you can find online forms to contribute to:
Reading Circle
Send in a comment about this month's book, or add to 'A reader's page' by telling us anything you want about books and reading.
How to.
Do you know a good way of doing something? Share your tips here.
Community writing
Send in anything from a joke to a poem and we will feature your work in the 'Community writing' area .
Making choices
Another way that you can contribute is by using our 'Making choices' form to send in a story. Tell us about a decision that you have made in your life,
however big or small, so that other people can learn from your experiences.

What can a community group contribute?
Where and what
Tell us about your group or organisation, or anyone who is doing something interesting in your local area.
Let us know about any upcoming local events that you would like to be featured in the INtouch calendar
|
What can a service or organisation contribute?
If your organisation or group provides a service to the public and you would like to include it on INtouch, we would love to hear from you. You do not have to be able to
access ntl: digital TV to contribute, just contact us with your ideas.
Where and what
This is an opportunity for you to promote your organisation or service including your contact details and logo. You can also include details of any upcoming local events
in the INtouch calendar.
A to Z
If you would like to add information about your organisation or service to the A to Z section, please contact us and we can discuss how we can best meet your needs. We
have produced some plain language guidelines to help you when you are writing for INtouch.
View the INtouch Plain language guide (PDF 81KB).
Speak to...
You can be a candidate for the 'Speak to...' section. You could use this as an opportunity to answer questions people have about your service. In the past, the
candidates have included community group members, service providers and even Santa Claus! Contact us if you would like to participate.

candidate guide (PDF 20KB).
Have your say
If your organisation or service has a current issue, you can use 'Have your say' to find out what people think. You can include some background information and a
short questionnaire for people to answer. Contact us if you would like to participate.
News
If you have something new, something happening or any other type of news, you can include it on the news pages. It may be a general item for the main page or
local information to be included in 'Neighbourhood guides' for residents of Batley, Fartown, Newsome, London Park, Netherton, Paddock or Thornhill. Email us your
news item and we will publish it on the site.

What happens to your content?
INtouch is about getting people involved. We depend on many different people to provide information. The only criteria for this information is that it should be meaningful.
We embrace all points of view as long as they are expressed respectfully, and will try to publish all material that we receive as long as there is a context for it. Write as if
you are speaking to your neighbour, because this is what you are doing when you share information through digital TV.
Controversy is interesting. However, broadcasting rules don't allow us to use offensive language or libel and say that we have to represent all points of view. If material
is controversial then it may take longer for it to get on the site, because we will have to find a way of presenting the whole picture (all points of view). Please send contact
details with your contribution so that the editors can check with you if they need to make any changes.
Editors will only make changes where this is necessary in order to make the information easier to understand (for example, fixing typing errors, punctuation and spelling).
We will never change the words of your contribution without asking you first. Editors also check all information from groups or organisations before publishing it, and we
provide detailed editorial guidelines that these organisations are expected to follow.
Information that appears on television has to meet legal guidelines and we can't guarantee that everything sent in will be published. If we are unable to publish your content
for any reason, we will contact you to discuss it.
