Kirklees Council is twinned with 4 towns:
- Besançon, France, since 1955
- Kreis Unna, Germany, since 1967
- Kostanai, Kazakhstan, since 1989
- Bielsko-Biala, Poland, since 1992
In addition to these links, there also community links between:
- Holme Valley and Imphy, France
- Colne Valley and Overath, Germany
- Stocksmoor Community and Olgiate Molgora, Italy
Benefits of Twinning/International Activities
Local Government:
- Promotes democratic local government world wide.
Transnational projects and exchanges:
