What are day care services?
Our day care services are designed to support people who continue to live at home, by providing occasional
or regular opportunities to get out and about.
We have day centres that can provide you with a range of leisure and social activities, which are designed
to help you maintain your independence.
What is provided by day care services?
At day centres we provide:
- lunch and high tea
- refreshments
- transport to and from the centre
- professional staff to provide assistance
People welcome the opportunity to attend a day centre, as it is a chance to get out of the home, to meet
new people and to get involved in other activities. Many carers also find it useful to have a day
to themselves, to do the shopping, or housework, or even just to relax, knowing that the person they care
for is safe.
Where are the Kirklees day centres?
There are day centres all over Kirklees, with some additional services being provided by
Age Concern.

Will I have to pay anything?
There is a set charge for attending a day centre. Your assessor will be able to tell you what this
is.
You may also qualify for a direct payment. A
direct payment is a cash payment
to allow you to buy your own support instead of Adult Services providing it for you.
