What is a Carephone and how does it work?

CarephoneA Carephone is a special unit that plugs into your telephone line and can dial for help when you need it.

It comes with a pendant which you can carry with you.  In an emergency all you need to do is press the button on your pendant and your Carephone springs into action.

It calls the Carephone Home Safety Service and a trained member of our team will answer the call 24 hours a day, everyday.

They will talk to you using a microphone and speaker built into your Carephone and if you need help they will take the most appropriate action, for example, contact a family member, neighbour, doctor or the emergency services.

It works on a telephone link, 24 hours a day, everyday, between your home and Carephone Home Safety Service.

  • You need help
  • You press your button, or one of the sensors sets off an alarm
  • Your Carephone calls the Carephone Home Safety Service
  • Carephone Home Safety Service answer your call and speak to you through your Carephone
  • Carephone Home Safety Service arrange an appropriate response

As well as your pendant there are many different types of sensor which can connect to your Carephone.  They each perform different ‘jobs’ and help people in different ways.  These sensors are not provided to everyone, they are only provided to people who need that particular type of sensor.
