Voice Over (Nicola): This is Sarah.  Sarah is 22 years old.  When she was 18 years old Sarah did a Person Centred Plan about moving from Childhood to Adult Life.

Sarah asked all the people that were important to her to come to her planning meeting.

Together, they talked about what Sarah’s dreams and nightmares were, as well as what was special about Sarah, her gifts and strengths.

Everyone worked together to make an Action Plan to support Sarah achieve what she wanted in adult life.
Sarah said in her plan that she wanted to work in Health and Beauty and she now works at Tanning World in Dewsbury.
Sarah works 4 days a week and helps serving customers and running the tanning booths as well as keeping them well stocked up with deodorant and wipes.

Sarah’s boss is Annie, and she and Annie get on really well.  Being more independent was important to Sarah in the plan she made when she was 18.  She said she wanted to start getting around her local community by herself, so she gets a taxi home from work each day then being the organised person she is she gets her favourite sandwiches – Marmite ones -  ready for the next day as soon as she comes home!

Like most of us Sarah said that being close to her family and friends was important to her as well, and one of the things she likes the most about adult life is going to the pub with her friends and family and enjoying a drink after working all day!
