Voice Over (Nicola) - Being part of our local community is important to all of us. This is Aslam. Aslam volunteers at the Taleem Community Centre in Dewsbury every Thursday morning making cups of tea and coffee for the elders in his local community.

Goulam - He comes in at 10, half past 10 and does all the kitchen work. He makes the tea and brings it to the whole group with biscuits and he chats with us. We understand his lingo very well and he understands us, and he’s very happy with us. When we go outside he comes with us, he comes with us everywhere. He is really happy with us.

Talking and all types of joking, erm mostly of fish n chips every Friday. He goes swimming every Friday. He always asks when we are going out as he likes to come with us. Last month we had a big party at Thornhill and he came then.

Voice Over (Nicola) - Aslam likes to go swimming at his local sports centre. He has got to know the people who work there really well. He uses “BoardTalk” to tell the receptionist what he wants.

Goulam [to Aslam] - You make the tea and coffees for us don’t you, and everybody has a biscuit don’t they? How Many biscuits do you have?

Aslam: - Two.

Goulam [to Aslam] - No, you have lots of biscuits, many biscuits!
