    • don’t get into a strangers’ car
    • don’t go into a strangers’ house
    • don’t accept gifts or presents from people you don’t know.

  5. If you feel worried the situation is dangerous or are being followed – go to let someone know – in a shop or a pub. Someone at a bus-stop, a police station. Shout or make a lot of noise to let people know you are worried.
  6. Know that certain parts of your body and other people’s bodies are private
    • you CAN and SHOULD say “no” if anyone touches you in a way that you don’t want them to
    • Know that you don’t have to keep secrets if it upsets you or makes you feel uncomfortable.
  7. Keep your house secure, always close windows and lock your door when you leave.
  8. Do not let people into your house that you don’t know without checking who they are first.
    • Use a door chain so you can see the person.
    • Always ask to see workers’ identity cards saying who they are and where they are from, before letting them in
    • Keep purses/wallets, cash out of sight.
  9. Think road safety. Cross at Pelican and Zebra Crossings. Don’t wear Personal Stereos when crossing the road because you can’t hear traffic.
  10. Be ready for emergencies or things you have not planned to do
    • Carry a 20p for phone box
    • Carry a written note with your information on - your name, address, doctors information and any medication you are taking, a contact person. It can be difficult to remember such things in an emergency, if anything happens.
