The Kirklees Learning Disability Partnership Board

A group of people meet every few months to work to make things better for people with a learning disability and their families in Kirklees. This is the partnership board.

They are people who work in services, from social care, health and leisure services. Family, carers and people with learning disabilties are also on the board. Many are also members of the Kirklees Involvement Network.

The Partnership Board meetings are chaired by:

• Nicola Cromack, who is a service user.
• Keith Smith who is Head of Commissioning & Planning.

The subgroups

The Partnership Board has 8 subgroups. The sub groups carry out work in the following 8 key areas. Their work links to the partnership board which has the lead role in identifying and addressing the big issues for people with learning disabilities in Kirklees.

Person Centred Planning
This group works on making sure that person centred approaches, person centred thinking, and planning are at the heart of everything we do.

Learning Disability Development Fund
This group makes sure that the Learning Disability Development Fund money is spent in the best way.

Housing
This group is concerned with developing the housing choices of people in Kirklees.

Health
This group works to make sure that there are good health services and support to be healthy for people with learning disabilities in Kirklees.

Jobs & Learning
This group works on developing work and learning opportunities.

Carers
This group works with carers to develop better services.

Involving People
This group develops service user involvement.

Ethnicity
This group makes sure that the needs of people from black and minority ethnic communities are met.
