What's available

A wide variety of equipment is available for you to borrow or to buy. From grabrails costing a couple of pounds to pavement scooters and fitted stairlifts which can cost thousands.

Here are a few ideas..

To help you bathe safely and comfortably you could consider buying a powered bathlifter.
Or, buy a bath seat and bath board, which together will cost about £60. Factsheets are available about bathroom aids.

Going up and down stairs can be made easier with a stairlift.
Or consider an alternative to a stairlift, such as well fitted double handrails.

For some people bending down to pick up mail or anything they drop can be difficult. Think about buying an inexpensive reaching aid.

If you have the commonest of all physical disabilities, arthritis, you may find it hard to open jars and tins, to turn on the cooker or taps, or to lift a kettle.

Equipment has been designed to solve these, and other problems, in the kitchen.
