Kirklees and will help carers get other services they are entitled to.
Support and Information
If you simply need someone to talk to or have a question about your caring
situation their support workers will be happy to listen to your concerns. They can provide you with practical advice and information about council services, local and national support services, carers’ rights and much more.
Social and information events
Kirklees Carers Gateway provides a range of social and information events
for carers. The events are advertised in a regular newsletter and online.
Carers Emergency Card
Carers often worry about what would happen to the person they care for if
they were taken ill or had an accident. The Kirklees Carers Emergency Card
is a small plastic card (like a credit card) that fits into your purse or wallet.
It carries a 24 hour telephone number, which can be called in an emergency. For example:
If you have an accident and are unable to talk, the emergency services can call the number on the card and Adult Services will be alerted that there is an emergency.
Staff from Adult Services will contact the person you care for and inform them of what has happened. They will provide any support that may be needed until you are well again.
