Every Child Matters in Kirklees

July 2008

Introduction

Every Child Matters (ECM) is a programme for change being delivered locally across England by local authority and children's service partners.

ECM aims to improve the life chances of every child and young person (0-19) by making sure that they have the types of support they need:

  • to be healthy
  • to stay safe
  • to enjoy and achieve
  • to make a positive contribution
  • to achieve economic well being

Across Kirklees partners are committed to delivering the ECM programme and its five outcomes for every child and young person in the district.

To achieve this we are making significant changes to how we plan and deliver services for children and young people. Through ECM we are joining up across sectors in new ways, sharing information and working more closely together to protect children and young people and to help them achieve the things they want in life.

In Kirklees this important programme of change is being lead by partners through the Kirklees Children & Young People Local Public Service Board and the Kirklees Every Child Matters Programme Board.
