If you feel you need help with adaptations, contact Gateway to care. Alternatively, you can contact the Community Paediatric Occupational Therapy service direct; they are based at the Princess Royal Community Health Centre and at Dewsbury and District Hospital. You can also ask your doctor, social worker or the hospital staff to contact them on your behalf.

Independent living

The Independent Living Team supports direct payments and the direct payments Independent User Trust. Cool2Care is a service that recruits, screens and trains care-workers or personal assistants, bringing together families with disabled children or young adults and people who want to work caring for them.

Benefits advice

Benefits advice is available not only to service users but also to carers. A check of benefits advice is an integral part of the assessment of needs carried out by the Directorate for Children & Young People.

To get benefits advice, please contact a citizens advice bureau or the Kirklees Benefits Advice Service.
