About careers advice

If you are at school or college in Kirklees or Calderdale, you can talk to a careers adviser from Calderdale & Kirklees Careers who will be in school regularly. If you are not sure where to find the careers adviser, ask your teacher.

Your careers adviser will come to your Transition Review in school if you have a Statement of Special Educational Needs, and will see you at various times after that to help you plan for when it comes time to move on from school.

If you have left school or college, you can use one of our public centres. These are currently called Connexions centres, and they are places where as well as getting careers advice, you can get information, advice and guidance on a wide range of issues of interest to young people. There is a specialist Learning Difficulties & Disabilities Careers Adviser working part of the week at both of the Connexions centres, and they can work with young people with a learning difficulty or disability up to the age of 25.
