Grants and Community Contracts

Laura Caunce - January 2007

A variety of community and voluntary organisations have been awarded grants and community contracts totaling over £100,000 by Kirklees Community Liaison for health and social care projects. These projects have been awarded monies since April 1, 2006, and encourage social interaction and activities to take part in the heart of communities.

Councillor Margaret Bates, the cabinet member with responsibility for Adult and Social Services said: “The projects will enable new ways of working to be developed to improve access to public services and the support available to people within their own community. Most social care is provided by family, friends and neighbours in their own communities. Funding community and voluntary organisations and working in partnership with them will go a long way to reaching our common goal - helping local people when they need help and in as many ways as we can together.”

Community Liaison is part of Kirklees Adult Services. They provide funding and development opportunities and support to community and voluntary organisations. Part of their funding comes from Kirklees Neighbourhood Renewal.
