emas logoAs a public organisation, Kirklees Council believes it has a duty to protect the environment in which we all live and work. To help work towards this, the Council is working towards minimising its environmental impacts and promoting good environmental practice in all of its 33 departments.

It is achieving this through an Environmental Management System called EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) being implemented in all 25 Council Departments involving 800 buildings and over 18500 staff.
