Energy and water conservation

Climate change is now recognised as the most serious environmental problem we face. Floods, storms and droughts - here and across the world - show how vulnerable we are to climate extremes and how high the costs can be.
Climate change is now inevitable. To slow down the process, and to avoid the worst effects, we need to act now to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The government's Energy White Paper, which gives details of their latest energy policy, has set a target of reducing harmful emissions by 60% between 1990 and 2050. More frequent water shortages in the UK mean that we also have to be much more careful in our use of this precious resource.
Here is an overview of what Kirklees Council is doing to reduce its use of energy and water, and also some simple ways that householders can have an impact:
Heat lost from your property
Search for your house to find out how much heat you are losing through your roof and walls.
