Children & Young People Service - October 2010
judith.deacon@kirklees.gov.uk

Introduction
The National Agreement and more recent modernisation initiatives which started in 2003 have two over-riding objectives:
  • To refocus teachers on their core activity of teaching and learning
  • To form part of a wider commitment to secure downward pressure on excessive hours worked in schools
This survey is supported by Kirklees LA (Local Authority) and the Local Social Partnership. Membership of the LSP currently consists of ASCL, ATL, NAHT, NASUWT, NUT, UNISON, GMB, Unite and LA Officers. This is in order to support the LSP's role in monitoring the implementation of the National Agreement and of ensuring compliance with the National Agreement.

No individual will be identified in the the analysis of this information or in the final report. All responses will be completely confidential and only cumulative results will be shared.

Every member of the school workforce is encouraged to complete the survey so that a range of perspectives are represented. This is an opportunity to express your views, this is not just a paper exercise, your views are important to us and will be used by the LSP to plan its work. If you are unclear about any questions please feel free to leave any questions that you do not want to answer. If a question is not relevant to your role, please leave it blank.

The overall results of this survey wil be shared with headteachers, governors, trade unions and professional associations. The LSP will be working with colleagues to try to address any issues raised. The outcomes of this survey will be used by the LSP to plan and implement support and guidance for schools in order to promote the full implementation of the National Agreement.

The survey should only take 15 minutes of your time; we hope that you will complete the survey so that we have a representative and wide response.

On completion of the survey you will be given the opportunity to be directed to a separate site where you will be able to provide examples of good practice. Any response to this question will not be linked to the responses provided in the main survey; these remain confidential. All examples of good practice will be emailed to a separate collection point to that of the survey.

If you have any queries regarding this survey please speak to your headteacher or a member of the LSP.

The survey will close on Friday 19 November 2010.

Note: If you work in more than one school and/or have more than one contracted role, and wish to share your experience for both roles please complete a separate survey for each.
