Quality Assurance schemes are programmes that enable childcare providers to raise standards in day care and
education. The Kirklees Quality Award - Quality for Young Children is a Quality Assurance programme that is
designed to support settings to reach Quality Assured Status. The award is specific for all sectors of day care/education/play providers
including Creches, Out of School Care, Nurseries, Children Centres, Pre-school, Childminders, Schools, Early Years Units and Youth groups.

The document is based on the 10 Dimensions of Quality developed by Pascal and Bertram for
the Effective Early Learning Programmed (EEL). The programme is based on these dimensions; settings will be
encouraged to work through each Dimension in turn. |

The accreditation procedure goes through the process that settings need to complete to ensure that they reach the standard as required to meet the

Investors in children
Investors in children is a government Initiative that determines that a Quality Assurance scheme is approved and will have a rigorous procedure for accreditation. |
Section training updates
The Quality Assurance programme is supported by a rolling programme of training that is
delivered on the Ten Dimensions of quality. This is delivered in both North and South Kirklees. |
