Childcare brokerage service

Kirklees Family Information Service (FIS) offers a service which provides advice, guidance and practical one to one support with your childcare issues - enabling you to return to education, employment or training. We call this childcare brokerage.

Whether you have never accessed formal childcare before, or you are looking for the right childcare provision to suit your needs, our staff will support you to ensure that childcare does not hold you back.

Who can use the brokerage service?

The service is primarily aimed at:
  • Lone parents or carers who are starting or returning to work or training.
  • Parents or carers who have children with additional needs.
  • Parents or carers who cannot find suitable childcare from the relevant lists obtained from the CFIS.

When you might find the brokerage service useful

Contact the brokerage service if you are:
  • starting or returning to work or training, when you have spent time caring for your children
  • concerned about leaving your child with someone else for a long time during the day
  • worried about how you are going to afford to pay for the care and meet all the other costs of everyday life.

What we can do for you

The staff at FIS will help you think through everything that might be worrying you and make sure that the choices you make are the best ones for you and your family and that you are comfortable with them. We can:
  • talk about the availability and types of local childcare
  • explore and discuss your options
  • look at costs, the help available with costs and how to apply to get help with costs
  • talk about how childcare can help you and your family achieve your goals
  • arrange visits to childcare settings
  • provide one to one support, advice and guidance.
