Free childcare and early education

Free childcare for 2 year olds
We are offering eligible 2 year olds free early education and care places for 15 hours a week during school term time. Some early education providers offer free hours in the school holidays, for example children could access 11 hours each week for 51 weeks of the year.
Free childcare for 3 and 4 year olds
All 3 and 4 year old children are entitled to 15 hours of free early education and care during school term time from the term after their 3rd birthday. Some early education providers offer free hours in the school holidays, for example children could access 11 hours each week for 51 weeks of the year.

Financial support for parents in education

Care to Learn
Care to learn can help pay for your childcare costs while you learn, if you are under 20.
Childcare grant
Full-time higher education students with children can apply for a Childcare Grant.
Discretionary Learner Support funds
If you are aged 19 or over and having trouble meeting the costs of participating in further education at your college, Discretionary Learner Support might be one source of help.
Professional and career development loans
A professional and career development loan could help you to pay for learning that enhances your job skills or career prospects.

Financial support for working parents

Working Tax Credit
Tax credits are payments from the government. If you're responsible for at least one child or young person, you may qualify for Child Tax Credit.
Childcare Vouchers
Your employer may offer you childcare vouchers to help with your childcare costs.
