The Kirklees Vision for Learning sets out how Kirklees Council will significantly improve standards by raising the attainment, achievement and ambition of all learners in Kirklees.

Vision for Learning Consultation:

The Vision for Learning was launched on 15th November 2007 at the Galpharm Stadium and brought together over 250 people including education professionals, teachers, governors, parents and others to mark the start of major consultation on the council’s new shape for learning and how it will be delivered.

Speakers included Cllr Light, Leader of the Council, a DVD address from Rob Vincent, Chief Executive, Cllr Dodds, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Children's Services, Alison O'Sullivan, Director for Children and Young People, David Walker, Education Director for Partnerships for Schools, and Caroline Gruen, Head of Learning, along with several children and young people from across Kirklees.

In his speech David Walker said this was a once in a lifetime opportunity to transform education and advised Kirklees to ‘be brave, be bold and go deep’ in taking the programme forward.

Children and young people from across Kirklees took the stage to describe what learning means to them, the ways in which they learn best, and expressed what a huge chance this was to make a difference in the education of generations to come.

After the event mobile displays were placed in 22 schools across the majority of Kirklees pyramids and 15 libraries, town halls and information points across Kirklees, and a headteacher conference was held on 6th December 2007 to ensure that everyone had a chance to have their say.
