Bids
The four month period for receiving bids from interested parties in response to the competition to establish a new mainstream secondary school for north Huddersfield closed on Tuesday, 2 November 2010.
Kirklees Council is pleased to announce that four bids were received from the following proposers:
  • E-ACT - proposing an Academy
  • Lilac Sky Schools Ltd - proposing an Academy
  • The Governing Body of Holmfirth High School - proposing a Trust School (Foundation with a foundation)
  • The Wakefield Diocesan Board of Education - proposing a Church of England Academy
What happened?
  • Consultation with parents, pupil, staff, governors and members of the community April-May 2010
  • Invitation to bid issued on 2 July 2010 with a deadline for receipt of proposals by 2 November 2010
  • Competition seminar for potential proposers held on 14 July 2010 at The Deighton Centre, Huddersfield
  • Community engagement ended 2 November 2010
  • Closing date for receipt of proposals 2 November 2010
  • Publication on 11 November 2010 of the summary of bids received and notification of a public meeting to be held at Fartown High School, Woodhouse Hall Road, Fartown, Huddersfield, HD2 1DJ on Wednesday 24 November 2010 at 6.30pm.
The decision making process
The decision making on the bids for the new school will follow the process outlined below:
  • Public representation period - 11 November 2010 until 22 December 2010
  • Decision by Kirklees Council's Cabinet - Early 2011
