Competition bids
The four month period for receiving bids from interested parties in response to the competition to establish a
new mainstream secondary school at the Windmill Lane, Howden Clough site closed on Monday 21 December.
Kirklees Council is pleased to announce that three bids were received from the following proposers:
- Dixons City Academy Trust are proposing an Academy
- Edutrust Academies Charitable Trust (EACT) are proposing an Academy
- The Wakefield Diocesan Board of Education are proposing a Church of England Voluntary Aided School.
What happened?
- Meeting with DTW (appointed by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) to run the public
engagement part of the competition) July 2009
- Invitation to bid issued on 21 August 2009 with a deadline for receipt of proposal by 21 December 2009
- DTW competition seminar for potential proposers held on 14 September 2009 at Dewsbury Town Hall
- Community engagement ended 21 December 2009
- Closing date for receipt of proposals 21 December 2009
- Publication on 8 January 2010 of the summary of bids received and notification of a public meeting to be
held at Batley Girls' High School on Tuesday 19 January 2010.
The decision making process
The decision making on the bids for the new school follows this process:
- Public representation period - 8 January 2010 to 19 February 2010
- February/March 2010 - Local authority gathers all representation received and presents to decision maker
- March/April 2010 - Decision by Kirklees Council's Cabinet.
