The following proposals are subject to further research and informal consultation to explore the likely choices for post 16 students in North Kirklees.

Post 16 provision Change Details
North Kirklees Post 16 Provision in Dewsbury Develop plans for investment in a central Dewsbury site to create a new sixth form college for a minimum of 400 young people.  
Batley Girls High School – Visual Arts College (sixth form) Closure of existing sixth form as part of the proposals for post 16 provision in Dewsbury, and ongoing informal consultation in Batley. This proposal takes into account informal consultations on the proposed move or closure of Batley Girls’ High School – Visual Arts College ( see informal consultation on Batley )
Whitcliffe Mount – Specialist Business & Enterprise College (VC) Work with the governing body to propose the closure of existing sixth form as part of the proposals for post 16 provision in Dewsbury.  
The Mirfield Free Grammar and Sixth Form The governing body have enlarged to 400 places in September 2008.

Heckmondwike Grammar School

The governing body are to enlarge to 500 places in September 2009.

Investment and development in current post 16 provision on current site.

Statutory consultation on proposals for the Whitcliffe Mount pyramid primary schools are expected to begin in summer term 2009.
