  • Happy and healthy
  • Safe and sound

our big ideas

Presenter:

We have lots of ideas to build a brighter future

  • Standards are rising but not fast enough
  • We need a good school at the heart of every local community
  • More school places, in the right places

Every young person will be given the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Young person 1: More young people will keep learning - beyond sixteen
Young person 2: This is our chance to have a brighter future
Young person 3: And we can all make a difference to our community
Young person 4: This is your chance to have your say

Presenter:

Co-education is the best way forward for boys and girls - with schools that respect cultural differences and religions

Every child matters and whatever the size of the school, they will be treated as an individual and supported and cared for

leadership and how schools are run

Presenter:

We have real opportunities to improve the way schools are run. And we will take advantage of them

  • We will also set up partnerships for every school, including opening a new Academy in Dewsbury where we will be  a co partner
  • We will work together to get the best for each and every child - in your area
  • We will continue to support our dedicated teachers and governors

green and bright spaces

Presenter:

  • All these opportunities need changes to our buildings.
  • They need to be bright and light
  • Warm and inviting
  • A beacon for green living
  • And flexible spaces that can be open for the community beyond school hours
  • We all learn in different ways and the latest technology will help us reach our potential at any time of our lives

how we make it happen

Presenter:

  • To make this happen we are proposing changes over the next 5 years.
  • Some secondary schools need to be in different locations to make travelling fairer for all students
  • Fourteen to nineteen year olds having a wider access to a range of new diploma courses and apprentiships alongside first-rate academic learning

  • This is about improving the educational experience, creating opportunities and bringing communities together.
  • So check out the proposals for you – by clicking on the map on this DVD

  • Are you ready for a brighter future?  Your views are important to us.  Get involved with the consultation online or at a consultation event.
