We want to make every local school
an excellent school
Building Schools for the Future ’ is the biggest ever investment in
education in Kirklees.
Over £500 million will be invested in the whole of Kirklees to radically
improve opportunities for today’s children and young people and generations to come. We
want to start in North Kirklees and have looked at the area as a whole, not just individual
schools, to begin building work in 2011 to change local education for the better.
We want to change not only the buildings but also the way schools operate through strong
leadership and working in partnership.
Schools need to be centres for learning for everyone, at the heart of their community, stimulating
knowledge and creativity, helping to drive local regeneration.
We want a broader and richer range of
subjects and courses on offer, in better facilities and shared by local communities.
Through consultation and feedback we have already been listening to what children, young
people, parents, carers, teachers, school staff, community leaders and many others want from
their local schools. This has helped shape the proposals. We believe they are the
best way to improve our communities and provide our children and young people with better lifetime
chances.
