What if I can’t get to the phone?
You don’t need to get to the phone to use your Carephone. You can press the button on your pendant and it will activate a call.
The Carephone has a speaker and a microphone built in, so you can talk to the Carephone Home Safety Service from anywhere within your home, as long as you’re within earshot.
What if I’m not near / can’t hear the Carephone?
If you’re not within earshot of your Carephone, for example if you fall in the garden, and when a call is made you can’t hear or speak to the Carephone Home Safety Service Team, they will recognise this, assess the situation and take the most appropriate action. Even though they can’t talk to you they will still get help.
What do I need to fit a Carephone?
The Carephone needs a modern telephone point, close to an electric
socket. If you don't have a telephone line, or the correct socket,
we may be able to arrange to have one fitted for you.
Installation of a telephone line
If you cannot afford to have a telephone line installed and your (and/or
your partners) capital is under £12,700 Kirklees will pay to
have one installed for you.
Telephone line rental
If you cannot afford to pay the telephone line rental Kirklees may
pay this for you depending on your disposable income.
You will not be asked to pay more than your disposable income, even
if the full charge for your service is higher.
How long will it take?
We aim to fit all Carephones within 21 days. Where we have agreed
that you require your Carephone fitting immediately, because you are
vulnerable, or at risk, we aim to fit your carephone within 24 hours.
How long will I have to wait if I need a service or repair?
If your Carephone needs servicing or repairing, we aim to visit within
3 working days.
