Ageing Well - planning for later life

Kirklees Council and its partner agencies, is asking what we need to do to "Live life to the full" and make Kirklees a good place to grow older, and to study what plans are in place to make the most of later life and enjoy an active lifestyle?

Are you prepared for later life and what do you need to make life decisions sooner rather than later to live life to the full in Kirklees as you grow older? As a council we are leading on developing 'ageing well' approaches with our partners but it's equally important to open up the debate and involve people in their 40s and 50s and upwards and ask them the question "where do you see yourself in your later years."  Why not tell us your views by visiting the Kirklees Council facebook or tweet #ageingwell.

Kirklees Ageing Well Diagnostic Workshop

A special event to highlight the issues around enabling people in later life to live life to the full took place in November 2011.

Kirklees Council and partner organisations, asked what we need to do to "live life to the full" and make Kirklees a good place to grow older, so that we can all make the most of later life and enjoy an active lifestyle.

The event focused on the social aspects of preparing for later life and looked at what plans we make for later life; what hopes and aspirations motivate us as we approach later life; and, whether later life is viewed as an opportunity to do the things we never got to do earlier in life. The event was supported by the Local Government Association and was designed to support local authorities and partners to improve their services for people in later life.
