The Kirklees Safeguarding Adults Board

It is a multi agency board which has replaced the Kirklees Adult Protection Committee which was established to develop multi agency policies and procedures to protect vulnerable adults from abuse. Adult Services is the lead agency for these arrangements.

It ensures the multi disciplinary coordination of referral, enquiry, assessment, planning , intervention and case review of services to vulnerable adults who have been or are at risk of being abused. One of the main aims of the board is to coordinate and ensure the effectiveness of the work of each partner agency in relation to safeguarding . The board monitors the work of each partner agency.

Key members include representatives from the primary care trusts, the acute hospital trusts, the police, South Yorkshire Mental Health NHS Trust. There is also representation from further and higher education , Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing, the probation service , and independent sector care providers.

It meets four times a year, coordinated by Adult Services.
