Listen to Michael Bunting, Restorative Justice Co-ordinator talking to Andrew Edwards and Julie Langford on BBC Radio
Leeds about the launch of the new Restorative justice programme in Kirklees.
Restorative justice is a new programme in Kirklees that brings victims in contact with offenders to allow questions to be
answered. It also holds offenders to account for what they have done. It gives offenders the opportunity to explain why they
committed the crime and make amends by repairing the harm caused in an agreed way. The victim has a voice in the process and the
outcome. Over 90% of victims that have used restorative justice would recommend it to others.
