What is Research Governance?
Research Governance is the system which sets and monitors standards in research. It has been set up to make sure that any research carried out is to a high standard. The Research Governance Framework for health and social care was issued by the Department of Health in 2001 and updated in 2005.

Kirklees Adult Services are committed to high quality research and consultation. They have developed research governance procedures in line with department of Health guidance and the council corporate research and consultation strategy (PDF 49KB).

Who does the Kirklees Adult Services Research Governance Framework apply to?
The Research Governance procedure for Adult Services in Kirklees applies to you if:
  • you are an external researcher or student wishing to access Adults Services staff, service users, carers or their data for research and consultation purposes.
  • you work for Adult Services and want to undertake primary research or consultation as part of an academic course.
  • you work for kirklees council and to want to access Adult Services staff, services users, carers or their data for research or consultation purposes.
  • If you intend to commission research and consultation that involves access to staff, services users, carers or their data via Adult Services.
