Team Description:

The Community Planning Team delivers a range of involvement activities and provides support, advice and project management to services, Councillors and partners from the voluntary, public and private sectors.

By developing and working to the Duty to Involve framework we:

  • Undertake community engagement and planning activities throughout Kirklees, taking a lead role within designated areas to identify the communities' needs, priorities and suggested solutions for improving their local service delivery.
  • Identify and gather community based information from services and partners that complements both the above activity and statistical based research in order to inform council and partner agencies in their service delivery, plans, policies and strategies.
  • Project manage a range of initiatives linked to improve community involvement and the delivery of the Voluntary and Community Sector strategy.

The aim of this work is to support the Councils commitment to:

  • Create better services that are responsive to the needs and aspirations of local communities.
  • Ensure communities have a greater understanding of how and why public services are delivered in particular ways by partners.
  • Establish an ongoing dialogue between Councillors, services and communities in a way that shows clearer and informed decision making.
