Advocacy

Carers Gateway is a council service so it cannot offer an independent advocacy service to carers. However, we recognise that sometimes you might need additional support with things like understanding and getting your rights, making decisions or a complaint or going through the assessment process. You may need the support of an advocate at these times. To find out more about advocacy visit Cloverleaf advocacy website

Cloverleaf Advocacy

Cloverleaf Advocacy provide an advocacy service for adult carers across Kirklees. An advocate can support people in getting their views and needs as a carer across to the appropriate services.

Some of the things an advocate can do are to:

  • support you to find out your rights as a carer.
  • support you to access, and support you through, the Carers Assessment process.
  • support you with addressing issues which may arise as a result of being a carer e.g. employment, respite services, benefits etc.
  • support you to be more central to decision making about the person you care for.
  • support you to make a complaint about health and social care services.

There are many other things an advocate may be able to support with, so if you would like to find out more information about this service, please contact Julian Grove-Haworth or Suzi Henderson on 01924 438438 or email Kirklees@cloverleaf-advocacy.co.uk
