“The Five People You Meet in Heaven” by Mitch Albom
The last hour of Eddie's life, came on his 83rd birthday. He died saving a little girl's life. The job that he had had, was fixing rides at a seaside amusement park, and before that, he had been a war veteran.
When young, Eddie was full of optimism, but at the time of his demise, he had become an embittered old man.
Breathing his last breath, Eddie feels two little hands in his – and then nothing. When he awakens, he is in the afterlife where he discovers that Heaven is not a luxurious Garden of Eden, but a place of learning. It is here that your earthly life is explained to you, by five people who were in it.
Eddie seeks redemption in the still-unknown heroic last act of his life. Was it a success, or a failure he wonders?
'The answer, which comes from the most unlikely of sources, is as inspirational as a glimpse of Heaven itself.'
